Have you caught any of these printing trends in 2019?
As 2020 closes in, we thought we would take a look at Ricoh's predictions for printing trends from the start of this year. We think they were pretty dead on, do you?
In the printing industry it's important to keep up with the next biggest thing (even if it has our printers tearing their hair out about spot colours...)
Here are 5 trends that Simon Isaacs of Ricoh's Insights saw coming.
Metallic inks
Metallic inks and foiling add that extra shine. We've not stopped recommending this all year at Love & Humphries.
Neon / Fluorescent inks
Bright colours were a huge trend this year, across print and especially fashion. You couldn't go to a music festival without being surrounded by a sea of neon tshirts!
White inks
It gives a really special effect. In particular with printing stickers we suggest a white ink underneath instead of transparency- it really helps a sticker stand out against wherever it ends up.
3D Effects
We love this effect, especially with book covers. This isn't requested very often, if you have some ideas let's chat.
Gamut extension / spot colour inks
Designers essentially have unlimited colours available to them, and it takes some extra magic for printers to be able to keep these colours as intended!
You can design for digital with your eyes closed. You’ve been asked to design for print, same thing right? No! Here are some tips to give your printer a break.
