Don't come a-knockin' - Door hangers work wonders.

Marketing . • Jul 25, 2019

The classic use for a door hanger is to ask hotel staff to kindly not interrupt you, or to flip them over (the door hangers not the staff) and ask for your room to be cleaned. Have you ever thought about what other uses they could have for your business? We have...

When you open a door, do you look at the handle before you grab it? Have you ever thought about it?
After giving it a try and (probably) realising that it makes sense to look before you grab, let's consider the benefit; You have a captive audience on every door handle. Use your opportunity by using door handles and promoting a message that may work well with the location and timing. Here are some examples...

1. Food for thought.

A well timed advert for a pizzeria can get you hankering for cheesy goodness for the rest of the day. Instead of putting a flyer through the door, and it blending in with all the other usual advertising, hand it on the customers door handle! Or perhaps if it's in an office, you could have it on a cupboard handle in the kitchen area.

2. Reminding instructions.

Hey! Did you wash your hands?
A little note in your staff areas could remind workers the importance of basic sanitary practises - throw in some shocking statistics to deter them ignoring it and keep your high standards maintained.

Maybe you need to remind folk to be more eco-conscious, reminding them to turn off lights or unused electronics. Catching them on the way out the door is a great time to do it!

3. Warnings.

Perhaps your video conference a lot, or maybe you need silence in a room for productivity / exam like conditions. A simple door hanger asking people not to disturb, or be conscious of sound levels can help avoid unnecessary interruptions.

4. And finally...

When your customer leaves, there may be a particular topic or issue you want to bring to the front of their mind. Your exit can be equipped with a door hanger to ensure it's the last thing they see. Maybe you want to promote a charitable cause not otherwise visible throughout your business, or thank them for visiting - either way it's a great opportunity to make one final communication.
